About Us

Know Something About Us

We are a trusted NSDC training partner and embrace NSDC’s vision of starting today to be a part of the changing face of tomorrow, to building a locally employable, nationally demanded and globally prepared skilled workforce.

Even though the central and state governments have made considerable effort to enhance the skill of the youth, there continues to be a huge gap between the demand and supply of skilled workforce. This is magnified by the fact that with a population of over a billion people and majority in the average age of 25 years, nearly 300 million are underemployed or unemployed. On the other side industry is in acute shortage of skilled labour. This clearly highlights that most of our population is under skilled and therefore unemployable.

Indian Institute of Skill Development (IISD) has been established with a primary objective to enhance the skills of the youth of India to meet the growing demands of modern industrialization. IISD started its operations in 2009 and quickly scaled up to three training centres in Himachal Pradesh at Parwanoo, Baddi & Nahaan within a year. Since then, we have grown considerably and have presence in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Our head office is located in Gurgaon.

India faces an unusual challenge: it is the youngest country in the world with more than 54% of its population under 25 years of age, but at the same time our industry is continuously in short supply of skilled manpower. The government, through various schemes has made efforts to bridge this gap. However the entire skilling effort over the last 10 years has met with limited success. The key reasons being -

1. Skilling Companies conduct training in job roles which are cost effective to deliver rather than the ones which meet the industry's requirements.

2. The youth have a casual approach towards skilling.

3. Minimal support from the industry in terms of apprenticeship and site visits.

In light of these facts, IISD has adopted a model where we deliver training in niche areas with industry assistance and ensure placement. Through such an approach we hope to make skilling aspirational so that skilling certificate becomes as desirable as a degree or diploma.
