Introduction

Hindustan Zinc Mining Academy was set up by Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and the world’s second largest zinc producer. The Academy was started on 1st August 2014 under the banner of HZL CSR with a ‘Vision’ to provide a plat form to local youth for developing highly specialized skills to operate the latest and most advanced equipment used in underground mining operations, thus making them self-reliant.

The Academy has set up fully residential training centres at Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Zawar in Rajasthan, to meet the growing requirement of skilled manpower and generate employment opportunities, particularly in rural areas. The prime objectives of HZMA are to enhance the employability of eligible youth, ensure sustained availability of trained operators for the growing mining sector in India and act as a catalyst in nation building.

The Mining Academy has been set up in collaboration with training partner ‘Indian Institute of Skill Development Pvt. Ltd’ and Skill Council for Mining Sector. The Academy provides training to youth in Jumbo Drill Operations and Winding Engine Operations along with training in Banks-men and Bellman Operations.

The Mining Academy pass-outs have already been placed with an average salary of Rs. 3,00,000/- per annum. Hindustan Zinc Mining Academy aligns itself with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mission of Skill India, implementing Scale, Quality and Aspiration.
